arrow We welcome Candy's Costume Shop as our first Ontario Costume Listing.

arrow After some consideration, I have decided to remove my affiliate merchant theme stores as result of the proliferation of online shopping competition and the labour intense responsibility of product and link updating. I will focus more on unique items and showcase hot new items and provide links to preferred online suppliers. These changes will begin soon.

arrow A group of us went to Fright Nights at the PNE the other night and had a great time with only one minor disappointment and one serious issue. But let me first say that over all the park is great - a job well done! I was very impresses with the roaming character actors and their makeup and costumes. However, We were very disappointed that the new swing ride broke down just as we were coming to it...

Now for the serious issue that occurred in the last room of the Hollywood Horrors. As soon as we entered that room we were surprised to find ourselves breathing carbon monoxide exhaust: It was if a car was idling in the room.  Both my wife and her friend were alarmingly affected with the latter even more so. It took several minutes of breathing fresh air to recover from the experience.

Carbon Monoxide exposure is very serious regardless of what the testing stats are that have been provided to me by the PNE... Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should this of occurred.  Something went wrong in there and it must not happen again. There are five of us that can provide an eye witness account and I am sure that if I bring this matter to the attention of the media, more people will come forth with similar complaints.

I believe it is the exhaust of a chain saw that is being used for sound effects but it must be eliminated and why sound recordings are not being used in place of a piece of machinery that is emitting poisonous deadly fumes staggers the intellect!

If you or your friends have had a similar experience or if you do not appreciate entering a room where you are subjected to breathing deadly fumes, please file a complaint with the PNE, The Vancouver Fire Marshal and Work Safe BC.

arrow I don't know how much clearer I need to be with the statements preceding my online forms but to reiterate I DO NOT HAVE ANY CONTROL OVER THIRD PARTY INVENTORY. I DO NOT OWN A PHYISCAL RETAIL STORE. I DO NOT RESPOND TO RETAIL INVENTORY INQUIRIERS so PLEASE stop wasting your time and emailing me about these subjects. Simply put, if you don't see it in my listings, I don't have it. Thanks and have a Safe and Happy Halloween!

arrow I heard on the radio yesterday - News 1130 AM - that the City of Abbostford, British Columbia, has issues a complete ban on fireworks until after Halloween yet I can find no information to confirm this on the city's web site.

arrow Just a reminder that when submitting a request for a Free Halloween Text listing that the event HAS TO BE HALLOWEEN RELATED and the the URL submitted must describe the Halloween event with the mention of the word "Halloween". Just because an event fall on or close to Halloween does not constitute a "Halloween" event :)

arrow CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS - I need some assistance in gathering data on Halloween related events, products, and services and Haunted Houses around the country. I invite anyone to pick a province and research and submit the web sites to me. This would be a HUGE HELP! Thanks in advance.

arrow I had a very enjoyable evening at the Faeries Ball last night despite the fact that when I arrived warm beer was just being added to the cooler and that I was at least 20 years older then most people there - LOL!

The In the House Festival group offered a very eclectic and entertaining array of performances throughout the evening However, due to the venue's layout, viewing was difficult at times.

The party was held at the Side Show Studios (no web site) and was well attended: I had never seen so many Faerie wings before! But I have to admit I was a bit disappointed with the venue. It is in dire need of a paint job, especially the ceiling, and repairs to the floors where in some areas presented a serious trip hazard liability: I stumble on the irregular floor surface and witness many others do the same.

There was also a cut piece of rebar sticking out of the floor that I almost sat on! And had a Fire Marshal entered the venue he would of most likely shut the party down for a lack of any visible Fire Exit Signs.

But the most challenging aspect of the venue is the fact that it only has one toilet!!! This resulted in long lines and uncomfortable waiting periods.

I look forward to attending the In the House Festival group's Haunted House later this month but I doubt I would attend another event at the Side Show Studio venue - ok I am an old fart and would like greater seating options and more toilets!

arrow Looks like there is a new Walking Tour in Burnaby that takes place for one day only on October 22 at the Burnaby Lake Nature House 4519 Piper Ave: Click Here for details.

arrowThere is a new Halloween Superstore in town called "Boo Halloween Superstore" and they are a division of Party Packagers. http://www.partypackagers.com/

There are locations in Victoria, Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond and Surrey and WOW what a selection at fantastic prices. There is everything from decor, costumes, masks, makeup, accessories, and Halloween party supplies and treats. If you are not shopping online at my theme stores than definitely make these guys your first stop when shopping for Halloween.

DATE: September 25, 2011

arrow I went and visited Wallmart to see what they had in stock for Halloween.. nothing but crap. I went to Zellers to see what they had for Halloween, nothing but crap. I went to Superstore and it was crap with one exception, they had a full size animated Butler for $130. HomeSense had nothing worth mentioning but surprisingly Garden Works had a few interesting decor nick knacks.

arrow I also went and checked out Vancouver Costumes Merchant of Dream on Commercial Drive who has by far the largest collection of quality venetian and eye masks, imported and hand made from around the world and one should definately go and check that out!

DATE: September 23, 2011

arrow I went and visited the Party Bazar's new location and I must say the parking is a heck of lot better but the prices sure ain't! While they do have an extensive inventory of prepackaged costumes and accessories, they are still perhaps the most expensive place to shop for Halloween related items in the Greater Vancouver Area. Tomorrow (Saturday September 24) is their 6th Annual Halloween Preview - Details Here

arrow Canadian Tire has some of those large Styrofoam skulls but they are like $35 bucks now- OUCH!

DATE: September 15, 2011

arrow Value Village has their Halloween inventory out and there are some excellent deals but best go soon before they sell out!

arrow I stopped into a couple of Shoppers Drugmarts and I am once again disappointed with their Halloween merchandise. Howver they do have a small styrofoam skull face for only $10 that isn't too bad but thats it!

arrow I went to the Station Square location of Spirit Halloween yesterday and what a joy it was to wander around the store for about an hour. As usual there is lots of cool stuff! I bought the Floor Candelabra - looks great! A visit to any of the Spirit Halloween Stores is a MUST DO for all Halloween enthusiasts!

4 1/2 foot Floor Candelabra 4 1/2 foot Floor Candelabra

Step up your decor to vampire quality with this elaborate and decidedly different Standing Candelabra. Place it just inside the front door to welcome guests to your castle and turn the lights down

DATE: August 30, 2011

arrow I spoke with Ronan today who owns four of the six Spirit Halloween stores around Vancouver (Burnaby, Vancouver, North Vancouver, Surrey) and he informs that he is hoping to have 3 of the 4 stores opened this weekend-Woot! I for one will be heading to the Metrotown store (Station Square) to check it out!!

arrow I noticed last weekend while driving by Broadway and Kingsway, that there is a new Spirit Halloween store location just across from Kingsgate Mall. This means that there are now a total of 6 Spirit Halloween Stores in the Greater Vancouver Area: Burnaby, Vancouver, North Vancouver, Surrey, Abbostford, and Langley.
